Following the merger of Port Broadcasting and Aruba Capital Partners announced this week, Port is expanding into Bangor ME with the purchase of Pine Tree Broadcasting’s three AMs and one translator for $172,000. Oldies 1230 WGUY Veazie, Soft AC “94.1 The Wave” 1340 WBAN/94.1 W231CH Bangor, and Classic Country “1400 The Country Road” WCYR Veazie began being operated by Port via LMA on December 1. Charles Begin’s Pine Treen Broadcasting acquired the stations in December 2015 from the estate of Daniel Priestly for $90,000.
Roy Henderson sells Country 99.7 KROY Palacios/Bay City TX to New Wavo Communications for $550,000. KROY, which had been simulcasting Country “Texas Mix 105.3/94.9” KTWL Hempstead/KHTZ Ganado, has begun simulcasting New Wavo’s “99.7 K-Star” KVST Huntsville via LMA. A previous attempt to sell KROY in 2014 to KSBJ Educational Foundation for $350,000 failed to close after multiple parties filed petitions to deny and informal objections to multiple infringements made by Henderson.
Red Rock Radio continues its sell-off with the sale of 105.5 KBAJ Deer River/Grand Rapids MN to Lamke Broadcasting for $200,000. KBAJ currently operates as a simulcast of Classic Rock “KQ 95” 94.9 KQDS-FM Duluth. Lamke, which also owns AC 96.9 KMFY and Full Service Oldies 1320 KOFY in Grand Rapids MN will begin operating KBAJ via Time Brokerage Agreement on January 1.
Glenn Cherry is purchasing Silent 1590 WPUL South Daytona FL from the Julia Cherry Revocable Living Trust and Regional Mexican “La Jefa 94.9” 1070 WCSZ Sans Souci/Greenville SC from the trust’s Redemption Strategies Broadcasting for $25,000 each.
