CRC Broadcasting will launch Sports “1580 The Fanatic” KQFN Tempe/Phoenix on Monday, February 13.
The new format will feature content from CBS Sports Radio and SB Nation Radio along with 8-10 hours of local weekday programming. The station’s daytime lineup includes The Morning Fanatics with K-Ray and Bauer from 6-9am, Fouhy on The Fanatic from 9-10am, CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome from 10am-12pm, The Daily Blender with Jeffry O’Brien from 12-2pm, The Dean’s List with Jeff Dean from 2-3pm, Mike ‘Roc’ Muraco and Dan ‘Manuch’ Manucci with Shawn Crespin from 3-6pm. Additional local shows not yet listed will air from 6-9pm and network programming from 9pm-6am and weekends.
Roc & Manuch currently air on Hubbard Sports “NBC Sports 1060” KDUS and will finish out there with this week’s broadcasts from the Super Bowl in Houston.
CRC purchased 1580 KHEP (The former Radio Disney KMIK) from Gabrielle Broadcasting along with the CP for 99.1 Tempe in November for $450,000. The station has been mostly silent since Gabrielle acquired it from Disney in 2015 for $1.4 million. The station will relocate to the tower of Gabrielle’s 1280 KXEG with 50kW day/95w night.
KQFN will also rebroadcast on both 99.1 K256CY Tempe (broadcasting from Fountain Hills in North Scottsdale) and 99.3 K257CD Phoenix. K257CD has been rebroadcasting CRC’s “Money Radio 1510” KFNN Mesa, who will its FM rebroadcast to 105.3 K287BX Mesa.
KQFN joins a very crowded Phoenix sports radio battle including Bonneville’s “Arizona Sports 98.7” KMVP-FM and “ESPN 620” KTAR, iHeartMedia’s “Fox Sports 910” KGME, and KDUS.
