FCC Report 2/11: Riviera Seeks STA To Accelerate Phoenix Translator Move - RadioInsight
The FCC has quickly acted on the STA request made by Riviera Broadcasting to accelerate its move of 96.1 K241BQ Fort McDowell AZ to Phoenix' South Mountain prior to the granting of its Construction Permit by denying it. The FCC states that "K27OBZ's problems do not justify STA for K241BQ. Nor does the STA request supersede the need for a construction permit before such changes can be made. Finally, we do not consider STA requests made for the convenience of the applicant." K241BQ cannot move to South Mountain until the application is granted. Original Report 2/12: Riviera Broadcasting is seeking Special Temporary Authority to expedite its relocation of 96.1 K241BQ Fort McDowell AZ to the South Mountain Tower Farm just south of Phoenix. Riviera is in the process of acquiring K241BQ from MKhanGroup for $230,000 to supplant 101.9 K270BZ Phoenix as a simulcaster for Rhythmic CHR "Power 98.3" KKFR Mayer via 103.9 KZON-HD3 Gilbert. K270BZ has received interference complaints from 101.9 KQSS Globe AZ and will go silent until Riviera can resolve those complaints. K241BQ seeks to operate with 120w/426m pointed directionally east towards Tempe and Mesa.
