Univision Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced the return of popular radio personality, Luis Jimenez, to New York’s airwaves with a new morning drive show debuting on March 13. The program will air on Univision New York’s hit radio station La X 96.3 FM Monday through Friday starting at 6:00 a.m.
Known for his bold humor and original content, Jimenez and his madcap crew will deliver a mix of lively sketches, wild stunts and song parodies, plus guest stars from entertainment, sports and politics.
“Univision New York is committed to bringing its audience the best programing in radio. Adding Luis as our new morning show personality on La X 96.3 is a testament of our promise to go above and beyond for our listeners,” said Ramon Pineda, senior vice president & general manager, Univision New York. “Luis brings vast knowledge in creating multiplatform content that enhances the audience’s experience and we are excited to have him be a part of Univision New York again.”
“I am excited to get back to what I love – my fans and radio listeners,” said Jimenez. “My morning crew and I know we’re going to have a great time being back on Univision, giving fans the jokes, interviews and music we know they love.”
Jimenez, a veteran of the radio industry, is known for his bold humor and zany characters. Born in Puerto Rico, he hosted his first radio show in Orlando, Florida starting in 1989. It was only a matter of time before his charisma, wit and talent won him the hearts of the Hispanic community in Orlando, and in 1993, he was invited to join WSKQ in New York to host the morning show. He has been a staple of New York radio ever since, joining Univision New York in 2008 to host a national show that took his unmatched brand of comedy across major U.S. cities including Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In 2015, Jimenez and his wife Alma launched the Luis Network, an online radio venture. Jimenez’s talents reach beyond radio; he has sold out shows at Carolines on Broadway, The Comedy Garden at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and at the New York Comedy Festival. His first album, “Tortilla Party,” was nominated for a Billboard Latin Music Award, marking the first time a radio personality had received the honor.
