Bustos Media is purchasing Casa Media Partners’ Regional Mexican “La Maquina 98.7” KMNA Mabton/Yakima, “La Vaquera” 101.7 KLES Prosser, and “Envisora 1310” KZXR Prosser WA for $800,000. Casa Media Partners is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
An ownership restructuring is taking place at South Asian station operator XL Media as “Radio Punjab” 1560 KZIZ Pacific/Tacoma, 100.5 K263BJ Richland WA and 660 KGSV Oildale/102.5 K273CB Bakersfield CA are transferred to Akal Broadcasting for no consideration. Akal Broadcasting owns 620 KIGS Hanford, 1210 KRPU Rocklin/Sacramento, and 1310 KMKY KMKY Oakland with 30% of its stake held by the owners of XL Media.
Charlie Banta and Sandra Miller’s Universal Stations are acquiring Brokered 540 WLIE Islip NY, 1230 WESX Nahant/Boston, and 1300 WJDA Quincy/Boston MA from Principle Broadcasting Network for $2.3 million. Banta and Miller hold stakes in the seller as well as Universal Media Access’ 92.3 KSJO San Jose and 1250 KKDZ Seattle.
Davis Broadcasting purchases Silent 1310 WPBC Decatur/Atlanta GA from Chang Soo Kim’s Hanmi Broadcasting for $150,000. Davis owns Spanish CHR “Mega 96.5” 1290 WCHK Canton, and Regional Mexican “La Raza” 100.1 WNSY Talking Rock/102.3 WLKQ-FM Buford in the northern Atlanta suburbs.
Broadcast One Inc. sells Silent 1530 KQSP Shakopee/Minneapolis MN to Fred Weinberg’s Nevada Radio LLC for $200,000. Weinberg is a partner in Ely Radio, owner of News/Talk 1230 KELY Ely NV and CEO of USA Radio Networks owner Anthem Broadcasting.
Mielke Broadcasting doubles up in Eugene OR with the purchase of “All Comedy 1450” KLZS from Eugene Comedy Radio for the assumption of the $15,000 in debt owed to Mielke in tower rent and the $211,000 promissory note owed to former station owner Arlie & Company. Mielke already owns Oldies “Radio 84” KKNX.
After agreeing to a Consent Decree with the FCC to pay a $9,300 civic penalty for violations of the rules governing public inspection files, EAS and station logs, Weber State University sells Silent 88.1 KWCR-FM Ogden UT to Educational Media Foundation for $100,000. EMF will convert the station to an affiliate of its “Air 1” Christian CHR network.
Mark Tarte and Don Wendelken are buying out partner Charles Marsh’s shares in Icon Broadcasting’s Country “99.3 The Bull” WQDK Ashokie NC and CDM Broadcasting’s Classic Hits 102.5 WOLD-FM and Country “103.5 The Bull” WZVA Marion VA for $10,000 and assumption of all liabilities. Following the closing, Tarte will increase his ownership stake in Icon from 25% to 50% and in CDM from 33.3% to 50%, while Wendelken will increase from 35% and 33.3% respectively.
