FCC Decisions
The FCC has rejected Kirkwood Community College’s Informal Objection for Plus Charities to modify their CP for 88.7 KMMK Coggon IA and has granted the station’s application.
KMMK was originally granted a CP in March 2015 to operate with 5kw vertical/95m. It applied last December to upgrade from a Class A to C3 with 25kw vertical/94m where it would add coverage of Cedar Rapids utilizing a Raliegh Waiver where KMMK would receive interference from Kirkwood Community College’s “Jazz 88.3” KCCK-FM Cedar Rapids and Educational Media Foundation’s 89.1 KXGM Hiawatha, but not create any towards those stations.
Kirkwood’s objection stated that the Raleigh Waivers were limited to existing non-commercial stations only, and not for new construction permits. The FCC ruled that it has granted the waivers in the past to permittees and that it is not an impediment to the application.
