Cumulus Media Rock “97.9X” WBSX Hazleton/Wilkes-Barre PA has promoted midday host Mike Duffy to Program Director.
Duffy joined WBSX in April after a long runs in the market at Shamrock Communications’ “Rock 107” 106.9 WEZX and Entercom CHR 98.5 WKRZ as ‘Psycho Mike’. He fills the opening created by the exit of Tori Thomas last May.
Cumulus Media announces that it has appointed Mike Duffy as Program Director for Active Rock station WBSX-FM/97.9X in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA. Duffy, a seasoned broadcaster with over 20 years’ radio experience in Northeast Pennsylvania, joined Cumulus Media in April as On-Air Host, Middays, for 97.9X/WBSX-FM. In addition to his new role as Program Director, Duffy will retain his on-air hosting duties for the station.
Chris Kenney, Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus Media-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, said: “We love having Mike here– He has the leadership qualities and passion you look for in a PD. He brings a great vibe to the station and a positive energy that is a huge benefit to our listeners and staff.”
Randy Savage, Operations Manager, Cumulus Media-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, said: “I am very excited to have Mike join the ranks of our programing team. He has demonstrated his ability to lead the 979X Team and knows how to win!
Duffy said: “I’m incredibly grateful and excited for this opportunity at 97.9X. I’ve been fortunate getting to spend my entire career in my hometown radio market, but now I get to program a powerhouse rock station here as well! I’m psyched to be working with Chris Kenney once again, as well as work with and learn from some brilliant programming minds in Mike McVay, Troy Hanson, and Jim Kurdziel.”
