Despite the federal government being shutdown the FCC has stated that it has enough available funding on hand to remain open for business through Friday, January 26.
With the next translator filing window set to open this Thursday, January 25 the agency will need to make a decision before then whether to delay the window rather than start it in the middle of a shutdown. Should the shutdown stretch until Monday, January 29 the FCC will be closed.
Albert Shuldiner has been named as Chief of the Media Bureau’s Audio Division replacing the retiring Peter Doyle. Shuldiner joins the FCC from HD Radio parent DTS where he served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of predecessor Ibiquity Digital.
Doyle will remain onboard in the short term as a part-time Senior Advisor to assist Shuldiner with the transition.
The Audio Division of the Media Bureau oversees the licenses and filings for all AM and FM radio services.
