Nate Bell Returns To iHeartMedia As WJLB/WMXD Program Director

97.9 WJLB Detroit Nate Bell Mix 92.3 WMXDiHeartMedia has appointed Nate Bell as Program Director of Urban AC “Mix 92.3” WMXD and Urban 97.9 WJLB Detroit.

The move marks a return to the company for Bell as he previously programmed for the company in Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, New York. He most recently served as Operations Manager for Urban One’s Detroit cluster until his exit last September.

iHeartMedia announced today that Nate Bell has been named Program Director of 97.9 WJLB, Detroit’s Hip-Hop & R&B, and Mix 92.3, Detroit’s R&B and Throwbacks, effective immediately. iHeartMedia Detroit has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing six stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.

iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Program Director, Bell will be responsible for day-to-day programming oversight of 97.9 WJLB and Mix 92.3. He will report to Tony Travatto, Regional Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Detroit.

Bell most recently served as Operations Manager and Program Director for WGPR-FM, WDMK-FM and WPZR-FM in Detroit. He has also held programming roles in cities including New York, New Orleans, and Memphis as well as with iHeartMedia in Miami.
