Entercom’s recently launched Classic Hits “94.7 The Drive” WIAD Washington DC as announced its first on-air host as Albie Dee joins the station for afternoons starting November 12.
Dee most recently served as PD/afternoon host for Rhythmic Oldies 1150 WTMP Tampa and as Operations Manager for Adams Radio Salisbury/Ocean City. Before that he spent over 20 years in the Washington DC and adjacent Baltimore markets with stops at 94.7 WARW/WTGB, 95.5 WPGC, 99.5 WIHT, and 107.3 WRQX Washington, 100.7 WZBA, 102.7 WXYV, and 106.5 WWMX Baltimore, and XM Satellite Radio.
Longtime D.C. radio legend Albie Dee is returning to the DMV as afternoon drive host for Entercom’s 94.7 The Drive!
Dee — who was most recently at WTMP in Tampa — will be on our new Classic Hits station weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. His background also includes on-air and programming positions at Entercom’s WPGC 95.5 and WIHT in Washington, as well as WWMX and WZBA in Baltimore.
Entercom D.C.’s Vice President of Programming Steve Davis says the hire was an obvious choice, “Albie Dee is a radio legend in D.C., and I am beyond excited to have him return to the market as the first personality on 94.7 The Drive,” Davis said. “This will be fun!”
Davis expects to make further talent additions before the holidays.
For Dee, it’s a trip home to the nation’s capital, “I am so excited to come back home to the DMV to play on the radio. I wonder if Steve and (Entercom Washington, D.C. SVP/Market Manager) Phil Zachary are off their meds! Seriously, I can’t wait to say ‘It’s me, it’s me, it’s Albie Dee rocking The DMV so viciously on 94 7 The Drive!’”
Dee’s first day on The Drive is November 12.
