FCC Report 1/13: WSOL-FM Seeks To Come All The Way Into Jacksonville
While the federal government continues to be shut down, filings have continued to be accepted by the FCC.
Unlike past government shutdowns the FCC is still accepting modification applications in order for the privately financed television repack to continue. The agency will not act on any application that does not effect the TV repack until the shutdown is completed, but they all are being accepted for filing. License transfer applications, call sign changes (other than those applied for prior to the shutdown), or any agency decisions are not being allowed during the shutdown.
iHeartMedia Urban AC “V101.5” WSOL-FM Brunswick GA seeks to change city-of-license to Yulee FL. The purpose of the change would be to take WSOL-FM out of the Brunswick market to allow iHeartMedia to pull Rock “107.7 The Fox” WHFX Darien GA out of the Sun and Snow Station Trust. Following the approval of the city-of-license change, iHeart states in its filing its intent to relocate WSOL-FM to the current auxiliary tower of 93.3 WJBT Callahan FL to improve its coverage in the Jacksonville market it already targets.
