Tejas Broadcasting completes its sell-off of its holdings with the sale of Hot AC “The Beach 96.5” KLTG Corpus Christi and Rhythmic CHR “Wild 105.5” KLHB Portland TX to record promoter Steven Zap’s Starlite Broadcasting for $600,000. Tejas recently sold their third Corpus Christi station, Regional Mexican “La Caliente 98.3” KMJR Odem to Educational Media Foundation for $432,000.
Great South Wireless sells Sports “97.7 The Zone” WZZN Union Grove/Huntsville AL to Neighbors Broadcast Company for $535,000. Neighbors began operating the station via TBA on January 1. Also included in the deal in a five year non-compete regarding ESPN programming in Madison County AL. Buyer William ‘Wes’ Neighbors, a former University of Alabama and NFL player, co-hosts afternoons on the station.
WYZE Radio Inc. sells Silent 1480 WYZE Atlanta to Ray Neal’s New Ground Broadcasting for $50,000. The deal is structured with the buyer paying $20,000 for the license and $30,000 for the station’s equipment.
Kudzu Communications sells Classic Hits “102.3 The Shark” WSKK Ripley and Classic Country “Kudzu 104.9” WKZU Iuka MS to John and Melinda Marsalis’ JC Media for $750,000.
The Augustus Foundation led by Michael Augustus acquires Urban AC “Hot 107.7” WHSL Lisman AL from WHSL Inc. for a $42,000 tax deduction. The station will change call letters to WBJZ upon closing of the deal.
Concurrently, Michael Augustus’ Dr. Michael Augustus Cultural and Musical Arts Foundation agrees to transfer 95.5 KYWY Pine Bluffs WY to Bryan Covey’s Clarke County Broadcasting, however the sale price is not included in the contract.
After selling 100.5 WZQY (then WFYE) Glade Spring VA to Awaken FM in May 2017 for $275,000, David Blair will reacquire the station for the termination of its promissory note owed to him. WZQY has been silent since June 2018 when it lost its transmitter site lease.
WWGP Broadcasting sells Country 1050 WWGP/95.1 W236DE and Classic Hits 105.5 WFJA Sanford NC to Jon Lane Hockaday’s Sandhills Broadcasting Group for $630,000. An LMA went into effect on January 15.
