iHeartMedia has announced two promotions in the Washington DC market today.
Aaron Hyland, who has served in the dual role of Market President for its four station Baltimore MD cluster and SVP/Sales for Baltimore and Washington DC since April 2018 has been promoted to Region President for Washington DC where he will oversee both the Washington and Baltimore clusters. Hyland previously served as VP/Sales for iHeartMedia Washington from 2013-2018 and has also served as General Sales Manager for the company in Albany NY and VP of Sales in St. Louis. He has also served as Market Manager for Cumulus Media in Fort Walton Beach FL and Poughkeepsie NY.
The promotion of Hyland was made possible by Mike Preacher moving to the new role of President for Government Initiatives & Partnerships for iHeartMedia Markets Group. Preacher joined then Clear Channel in 2002 as SVP/Strategic Partnerships and added oversight of the Washington region in 2016.
iHeartMedia announced today that Aaron Hyland has been named Region President for the Washington D.C. and Baltimore markets, effective immediately. In addition, Mike Preacher has been named President for Government Initiatives & Partnerships for iHeartMedia Markets Group. iHeartMedia Washington D.C./Baltimore has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing 10 stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Region President, Hyland will work with the programming, business and sales teams for all station brands in Washington D.C. and Baltimore to oversee on-air and digital programming as well as create new business and revenue opportunities. He will report to Kevin LeGrett, President for iHeartMedia West Division.
In addition, Preacher, who previously served as Region President for iHeartMedia Washington D.C., will now be responsible for overseeing the growth of the company’s Government Initiatives and Partnerships Division as President of Government Initiatives & Partnerships for iHeartMedia Markets Group. He will report to Greg Ashlock, President for iHeartMedia Markets Group.
“With Aaron, we are fortunate to have someone so talented, experienced and knowledgeable of the area to make the natural progression to the role of Region President,” said Ashlock. “With Mike, we are grateful for the amazing job he has done leading our D.C./Baltimore region and excited about the incredible wealth of experience and success he brings to the table in managing our Government Initiatives and Partnership Division. This is a win-win!”
Hyland is a media veteran with over a decade of experience, most recently serving as Region Senior Vice President of Sales and Market President for iHeartMedia Washington D.C./Baltimore. He began his career in radio as a Local Sales Manager for iHeartMedia Albany/Schenectady-Troy stations including K97, PYX 106 and 98.3 WTRY.
“The iHeartMedia Washington D.C. Region has a strong presence in both Washington D.C. and Baltimore with advertisers and throughout the community, with an amazing programming lineup including ‘The Kane Show,’ ‘The Elliot in the Morning Show,’ ‘The Toby & Chili Show’ and the ‘Laurie DeYoung Show,” said Hyland. “I’m excited to build on our success here giving our advertisers efficient and effective marketing solutions as well as providing our listeners the best programming and content.”
“I’m very proud of the work we’ve done in the Washington D.C. Region,” said Preacher. “Aaron has been instrumental to our growth and I am highly confident that he and the team will enjoy continued success. Regarding my role moving forward, we have very high growth expectations for our Government Initiatives & Partnerships Division, and I am looking forward to resourcing and spearheading the team’s efforts.”
