Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

Among the numbers of note for the July monthly:
- In what ratings expert Chris Huff notes is the first time ever for the frequency, Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV Chicago rises to the market lead with a 5.1 – 5.4 gain. Sister Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX slides to second with a 5.5 to 5.2 drop.
- Entercom AC “B101.1” WBEB Philadelphia takes a big stumble from the market lead to seventh place with a 7.0 to 5.5 drop. Huff notes this is the smallest share for WBEB since Summer 2005. Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK rises 6.6 to 7.0 to take the top spot while Entercom Classic Hits 98.1 WOGL rises 5.9 to 6.7 to second.
- Salem Media Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH continues to dominate Atlanta with an 8.5 share while Cox Media News/Talk 750 er 95.5 WSB holds in second with a 6.6. EMF’s 106.7 WALV has just a 0.2 share in its first full monthly.
- While Salem’s 94.1 KLTY Dallas surges to second with a 4.0 to 5.1 jump. iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS continues to lead with a 5.8 share while sister Classic Rock 92.5 KZPS ties KLTY with a 4.5 to 5.1 gain.
- EMF’s “Air 1” on 101.7 KYDA gains the highest numbers ever for that frequency with a 3.1 share.
- A big jump for Entercom Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston as it moves 3.4 to 4.7.
- iHeartMedia CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM Los Angeles dropped to what Huff notes is its lowest non Holiday showing since Spring 2004 with a 3.6 share.
- In its first full monthly under EMF ownership, “K-Love” 95.5 WPLJ New York dropped to a 0.4 share. The demise of the Hot AC format continues to help iHeartMedia’s 103.5 WKTU which moves up to 6th in the market with a 3.4 – 3.7 – 4.3 trend and Entercom’s “New 102.7” WNEW with a 3.0 – 3.3 – 3.6 trend.
