Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

Among the numbers of note for the October monthly:
- Entercom Classic Hits “K-Earth 101.1” KRTH Los Angeles has overtaken iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST for the market lead as KRTH rises 5.6 to 5.9 and KOST falls 5.9 to 5.2.
- Salem Media Christian AC 94.9 KLTY Dallas has risen to the market lead. KLTY surged from a 5.5 in September to 6.6 to jump ahead of iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS, which held steady at a 6.5.
- After tumbling from a 5.7 to 4.2 last month, Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX rebounds back to a 5.5 and the top spot in Chicago. iHeartMedia R&B “V103” WVAZ drops to second with a 5.7-5.4 move.
- It was a bad month for Country in Chicago as Entercom’s “US99” WUSN fell 2.7 to 2.0 and iHeartMedia’s “Big 95.5” WEBG dropped 1.5 to 1.3.
- EMF’s “K-Love” is finally showing some signs of life in Atlanta and New York. 95.5 WPLJ New York rose from a 0.4 to 1.1, while 106.7 WAKL Atlanta jumped from a 0.2 to 1.3.
- In its first monthly after segueing from Classic Rock to Active Rock, Cumulus’ “Rock 100.5” WNNX Atlanta shows an incremental rise from 2.2 to 2.4.
- It was not a good month for Cumulus Country “Kicks 101.5” WKHX Atlanta amidst growing expectations of a rebranding. WKHX dropped 2.9 to 2.4, while iHeartMedia’s “94.9 The Bull” WUBL fell 4.9 to 4.3.
- After tying for first with a 6.4 last month, the top two stations in San Francisco are headed in opposite directions. Entercom News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC rose to a 7.0 to take the market lead, while Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM falls to a 5.9.
- Entercom Hot AC “Alice 97.3” KLLC San Francisco is trending upward to third with a three month line of 3.8 – 4.7 – 5.0.
- Eagles season sends Entercom Sports 94.1 WIP Philadelphia to sole possession of first with a 6.6 to 7.5 gain. AC “B101.1” WBEB rises to second with a 6.1 to 6.6 jump. Last month’s co-market leader, iHeartMedia R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM falls to fourth with a 6.6 to 6.4 drop as Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK stays in third while rising 6.5 to 6.6.
