1080 KRLD Dallas will return to All-News programming from 5am to 8pm on weekdays beginning Monday, September 27. The changes concur with talk host Jay McFarland leaving for an unnamed station in Salt Lake City for family purposes. The new lineup consists of former Midday host Ernie Brown and Mike Rogers from 5 to 9am, Mitch Carr and Scott Braddock from 9am to 1pm, David Rancken and Bonnie Petrie from 1 to 4pm and Will Sterrett and Alice Rios 4 to 8pm. Nights and weekends will continue to feature Talk and Sports overflow programming.
KRLD is obviously taking a cue from WBZ-1030 here in Boston, which is al-news weekdays from 5 A.M. to 8 P.M. ET, and talk at night.
I wonder if KRLD-1080 might simulcast the audio portion of “60 Minutes” on Sunday evenings (6 P.M. CT/7 P.M. ET) the way WBZ, New York’s WCBS-880, and a few other CBS-owned news-formatted stations do.
