Cumulus extends its new 90’s to now “Great Country” brand to Kalamazoo, MI as translator 102.5 W273AR Paw Paw signs on as “Great Country 102.5” with 10,000 songs in a row.
W273AR operates with 250 watts and is fed by 103.3 WKFR-HD2. Its projected coverage covers all of greater Kalamazoo.
Strategically the station will serve two goals. WKFR currently leads the market with a 13.7 share. Second ranked is Clear Channel Country “B93” WBCT Grand Rapids with its massive 320kW signal. There are two country stations serving the Kalamazoo market, however neither superserves the town. The aforementioned WBCT is primarily targeted towards Grand Rapids. Midwest Communications’ “Win 98.5” WNWN-FM Coldwater has a fringe signal on the western end of Kalamazoo, focused more on nearby Battle Creek.
Cumulus may not be done expanding the “Great Country” brand that launched earlier this year at WNNF Cincinnati. The company has also registered GreatCountry937.com and GreatCountry1049.com this week.
