Press Release follows:
KNRJ – FM, The BEAT 101.1 FM Upgrades it’s Signal and Reaches One-Million More Listeners In the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and Surrounding Northern Arizona Communities
For more than three years The BEAT has been broadcasting on three frequencies to cover the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, 101.1 FM, 92.7 FM and 99.3 FM. This was due to the fact that the station was licensed miles away to Payson, Arizona with its main transmitter located on the Mogollon Rim just above Strawberry, Arizona. Effective March 21st, KNRJ FM has changed its city of license to Cordes Lakes, Arizona. This allows for the station’s transmitter to be moved to a new state of the art, one-acre facility closer to Phoenix, just north of the valley on top of the Bradshaw Mountains. For a number of years, Sierra H Broadcasting has been working on the project to improve the station’s coverage by relocating KNRJ FM’s transmitter closer to the Phoenix metropolitan area. This move and upgrade to state of the art, solid state, energy efficient digital equipment will allow the popular Hip Hop Hits station to reach an additional one-million listeners on the KNRJ 101.1 FM frequency.
“For years the number one comment we would get from our listeners was that they love The BEAT but have had difficulty hearing us. We have addressed that concern with this upgrade. We have invested a tremendous amount of time and financial resources into this project and are thrilled with the results,†commented Michael Mallace, General Manager for Sierra H Broadcasting. Program Director, Fred Rico stated, “The upgrade to KNRJ isn’t just an improvement to the radio station but it’s fulfilling a need to this area of Arizona. People are passionate about real Hip Hop and we’re giving them the best from the 80’s 90’s and todayâ€. Mallace went on to say that, “Not only will this be great for our listeners…it will be a benefit to our current and future advertisers as well.â€
