Classical “W-Bach” will no longer be heard in the Portland ME market come next week as Mainestream Media begins operating the station.
Mainestream, which acquired the station for $150,000 in the Nassau Broadcasting bankruptcy auction, will take control of the station’s programming on Thursday, September 13 at 5:00pm. At that time it will drop the Classical programming for an as of now undisclosed format.
WBQW is licensed to Kennebunkport, south of Portland, with a Class A signal that just grazes the city itself.
WBIN Media, which acquired the other two stations that air the Classical programming in the state told the Portland Press-Herald that the format will continue on 106.9 WBQX Thomaston and 107.7 WBQI Bar Harbor. However, 107.7 was spun-off this week to Blueberry Broadcasting for $100,000.
