A year ago we logged 53 format changes taking place between Christmas and January 2. This year the action began the Thursday before Christmas with the launch of EDM “Evolution 101.7” in Boston. With the debut of CBS Sports Radio on January 2, we wouldn’t be surprised if we log more changes this year than last.

1/7: 970 KNUU Las Vegas returns from silence with Catholic programming under new Immaculate Heart Radio ownership and debuts its new KNIH call letters.
1/7: 92.7 KZIQ Ridgecrest, CA relaunched after Christmas as AC “Q-Lite 92.7“. The station is now operated by Adelman Broadcasting who have a purchase of the station pending.
1/7: 105.1 WNGA Clermont/Athens, GA came out of Christmas music programming as Soft AC/Oldies “EZ 105.1“.
1/7: Birmingham rimshot “Classic Country 1360” WIXI Jasper, AL shifted to Spanish Adult Hits.
1/3: Curtis Media flipped Regional Mexican “La Ley 96.9” WYMY Goldsboro/Raleigh, NC to Urban AC “New 96.9” WBZJ. The previous format remains on 101.1 WZTK Burlington which also assumes the WYMY calls.
1/3: Blueberry Broadcasting merged the Classic Hits formats of 104.3 WABK Gardiner, ME and 104.7 WBAK Belfast into a trimulcast with newly acquired 107.7 WBKA Bar Harbor.
1/3: Rocking M Radio AC “Star 107.9” KZRS Great Bend, KS shifted to Classic Hits “Old School 107.9”
1/3: Concurrently sister Variety Hits “96.7 Jack-FM” Great Bend, KS flipped to Country “Kansas Country 96.7”
1/2: “La Kalle 100.3” KQMR Globe, AZ adds additional Phoenix coverage as it begins simulcasting on 105.3 KHOV Wickenburg
1/2: 1330 KWFM Tucson has flipped to Soft AC/Oldies “Star 1330“. They were Liberal Talk earlier in 2012 before going silent and then All-Christmas.
