In most years, Memorial Day Weekend is among the top three times of the year for station format changes. For whatever the reason, this year is currently shaping up to be less active than recent years but eventful nonetheless.
5/24 – No format changed, but Cumulus made the biggest splash as they rebranded five of their existing Country stations in Albany GA, Boise, Des Moines, Green Bay, and Lexington to the “Nash FM” brand.
5/24 – Martz Communications took control of their recently acquired AM/FM duo in Potsdam, NY and flipped them from Country to 80s Hits on FM and Sports on AM.
5/24 – KIGS Hanford, CA returned from silence as Sports “Fox Sports 620”
5/23 – After a day of stunting with various micro-formats, Entercom shifted Variety Hits “My 107.9” WNTR Indianapolis to Adult CHR “107.9 The Mix“.
5/23 – Emmis dropped “Comedy 102.7” K274AX Austin in favor of Spanish CHR “Latino 102.7“.
5/23 – After two weeks of sliding its previous format to 100.3, 93.1 WNOX Knoxville became “Classic Hits 93.1“.
5/23 – After also sliding its previous format to a stronger signal, Cox debuted Urban Oldies “Hot 106.5” WHJX Jacksonville.
5/22 – KCCY Pueblo, CO dropped Classic Country in favor of “Fox Sports 1350“
