Summit City Radio Group will flip Adult Standards/Talk “1250 The River” WGL and AC “V102.9” WGL-FM Fort Wayne to Oldies on Monday, June 3.
The new format will focus on pop hits from the 1960’s and 70’s. Longtime Fort Wayne personality Rick Hughes will join the station for mornings. 1250 WGL afternoon host Pat While will remain in that slot for the combined station. WGL AM/FM will remain as the Fort Wayne affiliate for Indiana University Sports.
The station claims that no jobs will be lost by combining the two station’s programming, although 1250 will drop the syndicated Dave Ramsey and 102.9 will cease airing Delilah. The new format will place the station in direct competition with Sarkes Tarzian’s Classic Hits “Fun 101.7” WLDE.
1250 WGL and 102.9 WGL-FM simulcasted from 2006 until 2010, when the FM broke off to launch the AC “V102.9” format.
