Update 7/22: 1240 WFSX/1270 WNOG dropped their simulcast of 92.5 WFSX-FM this morning and flipped to Sports as “The Fan“. The duo will carry NBC Sports Radio network programming along with CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome.
Original Report 7/15: Sun Broadcasting Talk “Fox News 92.5” WFSX-FM Estero/Fort Myers will no longer be heard on AM starting next week.
1240 WFSX Fort Myers and 1270 WNOG Naples will launch a new, as yet unannounced format on Monday, July 22. The trio of stations have been simulcasting since September 2009, when 92.5 dropped its Oldies format to begin simulcasting the AM’s.
It appears former AC “Lite 93.7” WTLT PD Lance Ballance will be involved in the new format for the stations. He handed over the programming reins of new Active Rock “93X” WXNX, which replaced WTLT last month, to John Rozz in order to work on a new project for the company. Rozz is also PD of sister Classic Rock “Arrow 94.5” WARO.
WFSX-FM is home to a local morning program hosted by Drew Steele and syndicated talkers the rest of the day including Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin.
1240 WFSX operates with a non-directional 1kW signal serving Fort Myers, while 1270 WNOG runs a directional 5kW operation with much of its signal going south and west over the Gulf of Mexico.
