Cumulus’ 97.9 KNRQ-FM Eugene, OR has filed a request for expedited approval to shift its pending move into Aloha in the Portland market to a new tower site. Claiming that it needs to be built before August 1 in order to close on its swap with EMF Broadcasting of 97.5 KYGA (was KRUZ-FM) Goleta CA and 103.7 KXPC-FM Harrisburg OR before the California license renewal deadline.
If approved, KNRQ will now be built as a C1 with 9.7kW at 472 meters from the KGW-TV owned tower (instead of 50kw at 387 meters from a different location). Cumulus states it can build the new facility quickly, but if the new application is not approved before the August 1 deadline it will delay construction until at least December.
