Update 10/10: WKLI made the flip to Country “100.9 The Cat” this morning as it began simulcasting 104.9 WZMR. The station is redirecting listeners to the new frequency.
In addition to morning hosts Wolf and Tobin the remainder of the previous “Rock 100.9” airstaff was let go with the flip including PD/Afternoon Host Tim Noble, middayer Suzanne, and night host Mike The Enforcer.
Original Report 10/9: Pamal Country “104.9 The Cat” Altamont/Albany, NY is about to relocate to 100.9.
The move will displace “Rock 100.9” WKLI Albany. Morning hosts Bob Wolf and John Tobin, who joined the station in January, posted on Facebook that they were let go today in preparation of the flip.
The move to 100.9 will give “The Cat” a signal boost as its current 104.9 facility operates with 530 watts at 284 meters. 100.9, while also a Class A, operates with 6kW at 91 meters closer to the population center of the market.
1009TheCat.com was registered anonymously for WKLI on October 1. No word yet on what programming will replace it on 104.9.
The 104.9 signal may go all-Christmas for nearly three months (possibly after a week or two of 104.9 and 100.9 simulcasting), with it’s new “permanent” format not arriving until January 1st.
