Clear Channel has begun programming Reach Communications’ 93.5 W228BV Fort Lauderdale, FL via 93.9 WMIA-HD2 Miami Beach and has launched Country “93.5 The Bull“.
Launching with a Commercial Free Summer and branded as “Lauderdale’s New Hit Country”, the new format brings competition to Beasley’s “99.9 Kiss Country” WKIS Boca Raton.
Covering most of Broward County with 179 watts at 264 meters, “The Bull” gives Clear Channel a second format on the 93.5 frequency in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market joining Dance “Evolution 93.5” W228BY Miami serving downtown Miami and Miami Beach.
The same branding and tactics Clear Channel used in launching country on WBWL-101.7 in the Boston area four weeks ago.
I presume that like WBWL, W228BV-93.5 will probably run Bobby Bones in the morning and other country shows distributed by CC-owned Premiere Networks.
Should this be allowed? Doesn’t Clear Channel own enough radio stations in Miami/Fort Lauderdale? WKIS doesn’t exactly have a huge audience.
