The most transitional phase in the history of Emmis Urban “Hot 97” WQHT New York will include a new Program Director.
Jay Dixon, who has served as Interim Program Director since Ebro Darden stepped down in March to focus on his on-air duties, will take the reigns on a permanent basis. Dixon previously programmed Emmis now-defunct Urban AC “98.7 Kiss-FM” WRKS New York before it was leased to ESPN in 2012.
Hot 97 has seen a number of transitions this year. Deon Livingston replaced Alexandra Cameron as General Manager following the purchase of 107.5 WBLS and 1190 WLIB by Emmis. Ebro stepped down as Program Director to join Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds in what has now been renamed as “Ebro in The Morning”. And longtime afternoon host Angie Martinez defected to Clear Channel’s crosstown competitor “Power 105.1” WWPR.
