Friends of Public Radio’s 91.3 WHQR Wilmington, NC has launched a second signal dedicated to Classical Music.
“Classical HQR” will air on 96.7 W243CX Wilmington and WHQR-HD2 as the translator completes its move-in from Rose Hill. It is operating with 99 watts at 145 meters. The move of Classical to its own signal allows WHQR to increase its News/Talk programming as well as add a three hour evening Jazz block on its main signal.
Wilmington has been without a dedicated Classical signal since Davis Media pulled the plug on “Bach FM” 1180 WSFM/95.9 W240AS last November.
