The deal has been filed with the FCC showing that Alpha will be paying $3.15 million for the three Adelante Media Group stations in the Salt Lake City market. But is Alpha done growing in the market? We hear the company intends to expand its holdings in the market, perhaps following the conclusion of the big frequency shuffle.
Original Report 4/29: Alpha Media has announced the acquisition of Adelante Media Group’s three stations in the Salt Lake City market for an undisclosed price.
The deal adds Regional Mexican “La Gran D 102.3” KDUT Randolph, UT, Spanish CHR “Latino 106.1” KBMG Evanston, WY (With an eventual move-in to the SLC market on 106.3), and Spanish Adult Hits “Juan 1600” KTUB Centerville, UT. Alpha will begin operating all three stations via LMA on Friday, May 1.
This is the final deal for Adelante Media, which sold 104.7 WDDW Milwaukee to Bustos Media last week.
Alpha Media of Portland, Oregon announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement to purchase radio stations from Adelante Media Group. Adelante owns three radio stations; KTUB (AM) and KDUT (FM) in Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo and KBMG (FM) in Evanston, WY. Alpha Media will begin operating the Adelante stations under an LMA starting May 1, 2015.
When all pending deals are completed, it will bring the total number of stations owned by Alpha Media to ninety-nine. Chairman of Alpha Media, Larry Wilson commented on the acquisition, “We are so pleased to join forces with Mary Lee Robinson and her fine staff who deliver beautiful entertainment to the Latino community of Salt Lake City.”
Jay Meyers, CEO of Adelante Media Group, LLC said, “Mary Lee Robinson and her team have built a brilliant operation in Salt Lake City poised for spectacular growth in the coming years, truly the Crown Jewel of Adelante’s holdings. As we go through our liquidation phase, I’m so very pleased to be doing a deal for our Salt Lake stations with Larry Wilson, Bob Proffitt and the Alpha crew. Not only are they fantastic broadcasters, but also great friends.”
This transaction will be filed with the Federal Communications Commission shortly and is subject to their approval. Bill Fanning of Media Venture Partners is the broker for Adelante Media Group.
106.1 is already at the same tower site as the CP for 106.3. It will just be a simple frequency slide once iHeart completes its moves (105.7 -> 105.9 and 106.5 -> 106.7)
One has to wonder if Broadway Media is Alpha’s next target.
