Riverfront Broadcasting will launch “Korn Country 92.1” KZKK Parkston/Mitchell SD on Monday, December 21 at 4:00pm.
KZKK was granted a CP last month to move from Huron SD to Parkston as a Class C1 with 100kW at 106 meters (Coverage Map). KZKK will join a Riverfront cluster including News/Talk 1490 KORN and Hot AC “Q107.3” KQRN. The Country format will give an in-market competitor to Saga’s 105.9 KMIT. Clint Greenway, who currently serves as PD of KORN and afternoon host at KQRN will become morning host at KZKK.
Earlier this year Riverfront Broadcasting sued Main Street Broadcasting’s 92.1 KKOR Waseca/Owatonna MN over the use of the “Korn Country 92.1” moniker it was using. The suit accused KKOR of false designation, dilution, cybersquatting and unfair competition. That station has since rebranded as “KRUE Country 92.1” under new KRUE call letters. The domains associated with the KKOR brand have been transferred to Riverfront.
you gotta admit though…it’s a nice homage to Hee Haw!!!
Let me guess. You’ve never been to Mitchell, SD. Mitchell is home to a South Dakota landmark, the Corn Palace.
And KORN has been on the air long before “Hee Haw.”
it’s been a while (1983), but yes…
