After an hour of stunting with Country, KJXK returned to its Variety Hits format.
The hour long stunt was tied into the relaunch of sister 94.1 KTFM to make competitors and listeners believe KTFM was returning to its heritage frequency. KTFM was located on 102.7 from 1969 until 2003. It then was relaunched on 94.1 in January 2005 as Rhythmic Oldies “Jammin 94.1” before shifting to Hot AC and finally back to CHR.
Original Report 1/7 5:21pm: With sister CHR 94.1 KTFM stunting as “94.1 The Taco” in preparation of a relaunch , Alpha Media is continuing the revamping of its San Antonio cluster as Variety Hits “102.7 Jack-FM” KJXK has begun stunting with Country.
KJXK is still using the Jack-FM moniker along with the addition of barnyard animal sounds to the imaging. The station’s Facebook page promotes it as “102.7 Yeehaw FM“. With Cox’s “Y100” KCYY and iHeartMedia’s “KJ 97” KAJA fully entrenched in the market is Alpha really committed to becoming the third Country player in the market?
The flip came at 4:00pm after a half hour long block of farewell songs ending with Adele’s “Someone Like You”. Jack ranked thirteenth in the San Antonio market in the December Nielsen Audio PPM ratings with a 2.6 share placing well behind Cox Media’s market leading Classic Hits 101.1 KONO and its 8.5 share.
