Sometimes a unique radio brand may be too much for a marketplace.
A perfect example of that is Northeast Broadcasting’s 92.5 KDAD Bar Nunn/Casper WY, which rebranded earlier this week from “Buckin 92” to “New Country 92.5“.
While the “Buckin” branding fits in with the popularity of rodeo in Wyoming the rhyming clearly would cause some problems for some conservative listeners. The shift to a simple “New Country” identity makes the station more friendly to female listeners and clearly describes what the station is.
