Update 1/6: Following a week of stunting, Midwest Communications flipped 92.1 WQTX to “Big Country 92.1” at 3:00pm today. The station is currently using Dial-Global’s True Country satellite format.
Over the past few days the station has been looping the same song over and over. Yesterday featured “Tomorrow” from the musical Annie, and leading up to the flip was Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” emphasizing the line “Tonight is going to be a good night”.
Original Report 12/30: Midwest Communications is preparing for its second flip at one of its Lansing, MI stations. Earlier this week, 92.9 WLMI acquired the Classic Hits format that had been heard on “92X” 92.1 WQTX. WQTX has been stunting with a loop telling listeners to move to the new frequency. A pair of domains registered by Midwest hint at a Country direction for the station: Big921.com and 921BigCountry.com.
A poster on the Michigan Radio & TV Buzzboard indicates that 92.1 was testing with a satellite delivered country format in the early morning hours Thursday.
