Original Report 7/1: While Clear Channel is being attacked head-on by Cox’s new Hot 101.5 in Tampa, it appears ready to reignite its battle with Cox’s 95.1 WAPE in Jacksonville.
CHR “97.9 Kiss-FM” WFKS has begun a flashback weekend playing lost CHR hits from the 90’s and 2000’s while hyping “saying goodbye” to Kiss on Tuesday, July 5 at 9:00am.
We should note the presence of the RadioNow979.com and 979RadioNow.com anonymous registrations that we thought could’ve been decoys for last month’s launch of Journey in Atlanta. A Twitter account for @RadioNow979 has popped up in the last few days.
Clear Channel made a similar shift in Louisville last year. “98.9 Kiss-FM” WZKF relaunched as “Radio Now 98.9” WNRW following a gradual revamp of the stations programming. WFKS has been CHR since March 2000.
