Update 7/29: KSOC made the shift to Urban Oldies “Old School 94.5” at 5pm today. The launch featured former “K104” KKDA morning host Skip Murphy and members of his show. While nothing has been announced, it is expected that they will take the afternoon slot formerly held by Michael Baisden’s syndicated show.

Update 7/28: OldSchool945.com is live as the station prepares for its launch Friday at 5pm.
Original Report 7/25: Radio-One Urban AC “94.5 K-Soul” KSOC Gainesville/Dallas, TX is headed for a tweaking.
As we tweeted last Monday, KSOC dropped its “K-Soul” moniker and all jocks outside of the Tom Joyner morning show. The station is now promoting that changes are coming this Friday, July 29 at 5:00pm.
Radio-One’s Interactive One division registered OldSchool945.com earlier this month, indicating that the station will go in a gold-based direction. A similar move was made at sister Urban AC “Mojo 100.3” WMOJ Cincinnati last December.
Thanks to Frank Williams for his assistance in compiling this report.
I also heard that KSOC is raising their signal strength. There’s rumors that they’ll switch their signal to HD signal.
I am surprised to hear about this dramatic change. What caused this change? I assume Michael Basdin & George will no longer be on the air during their regular time slot. I know their topics can sometimes be very raw in nature, did this have anything to do with the new change?
