After 22 years in mornings at Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI San Francisco, market legend Don Bleu is moving across the hall to Clear Channel sister “Oldies 103.7” KKSF.
Bleu, who has been with the station going back to its days as “K101” will slide over to KKSF beginning on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. No word yet on who will replace Bleu in mornings at KIOI.
“We’re excited to bring such a huge name and talent to our newest FM station,” said Director of Operations Don Parker. “Don Bleu is in a class of his own and I’m thrilled to have him be the catalyst in establishing another heritage San Francisco brand for decades to come!”
Could there be an additional change to KKSF that day? Clear Channel registered SF1037.com last week. While we don’t foresee a format change there, it could be beneficial for the station to downplay the Oldies name in order to bring Bleu’s audience over from 101.3. Clear Channel made a similar move at KJR-FM Seattle earlier this year when it brought Bob Rivers in for mornings. While still branding itself “Oldies 95.7“, most of the marketing is simply “95.7 Seattle“.
