96.3 K-TWIN Announces New Afternoon and Night On-Air Talent
Locally owned and operated FM 96.3 K-TWIN is rounding out their on-air roster with some local favorites and popular new additions. Beginning March 4, 2013, the afternoon broadcast slot on 96.3 K-TWIN will be filled by radio veteran, Mark Rider, former Twin Ron Coomer and Minnesota Swarm arena host, Lindsay Guentzel.
A veteran radio show host, Rider has 20+ years in radio in major markets such as Denver, Kansas City and Philadelphia. In 2012 Rider was named ACM Major Market Air Personality of the Year. He studied at Winona State University and has family and friends in Burnsville, Minnesota. When asked about joining K-TWIN, Rider said, “A morning style show in the afternoon on a brand new station, for a local company who believes in having ‘major league’ caliber players on their team. That company is Northern Lights Broadcasting and the Pohlad family, who I can’t thank enough for this opportunity.”
As a former Major League player, Ron Coomer brings his intimate insider knowledge of the Minnesota Twins and MLB. Thanks to his extensive background as a baseball analyst for Fox Sports North, Coomer will be a great asset to 96.3 K-TWIN in analyzing the team’s on field strategy and performance for listeners.
Guentzel has as acted as a sideline reporter for FOX Sports Prep Zone at FOX Sports North in Minneapolis. She attended the University of Minnesota and is the current In-Arena Host for the Minnesota Swarm. Quick-witted and insightful, she is sure to be a listener favorite.
96.3 K-TWIN will also begin airing their new nighttime program on March 4, showcasing the team of Jason Nagel and Rod Simons. Along with their nighttime broadcast duties on 96.3 K-TWIN, team Nagel and Simons will also conduct the “Post-Post Game Show” following the Minnesota Twins Play by Play.
Mostly recently heard on Cities 97, Nagel is a widely respected local music aficionado. In his switch to 96.3 K-TWIN, he will be complemented by Simons, an eight time Emmy Award winning journalist. Simons has been recognized as an “Outstanding Sports Anchor in the Midwest” for his work, most notably at KSTP-TV. In 2006 Simons won First Place in the Associated Press “Breaking News” category for his on-field coverage of the Minnesota Twins division title.
Northern Lights Broadcasting Director of Operations and Programming, Michael Steele expressed his excitement about the new on air roster: “It’s thrilling to have the entire team now in place.
