iHeartMedia has appointed Jason Carr as Program Director of “Alt 99.1” W256BT and Assistant Program Director of Rock 100.7 WMMS Cleveland. Carr joins the company from Horizon Broadcasting’s AC “Coast 101.3” WHLG Port St. Lucie FL where he served as Station Manager and Variety Hits “Beach 98.5” WSBH Satellite Beach/Melbourne and “97.9 ESPN Radio” WTSM Woodville/Tallahasse FL where he was Operations Manager. Following the move of Chris Tyler to Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX Boston, iHeartMedia Cleveland has filled the roles at his former stations. ‘Java’ Joel Murphy will move up from Assistant Program Director/Music Director to fill the Program Director role at CHR “96.5 Kiss-FM” WAKS. Murphy has been with WAKS since 2006 and has moved up the ranks from night host to his current role in addition to serving as afternoon host. New iHeartMedia acquisition 100.7 WZLX Boston has named Chris Tyler as Program Director. Tyler joins WZLX from iHeartMedia Cleveland where he has programmed CHR “96.5 Kiss-FM” WAKS, Alternative “99X” W256BT, and Rock 100.7 WMMS since January 2014. He previously served as SVP/Programming for the company’s Providence RI cluster where he also programmed Rock 94.1 WHJY. iHeartMedia has renewed and extended its contract with syndicated morning host Shane ‘Rover’ French to keep his “Rover’s Morning Glory” on flagship Rock 100.7 WMMS Cleveland and in other markets. Rover has been heard on WMMS since 2008 when he jumped from then CBS Alternative “92.3 K-Rock” WKRK. He had been on 92.3 since 2003 including a stretch when he served as the Chicago base of the “Free-FM” Hot Talk brand as one of three regional hosts along with Adam Carolla and David Lee Roth to replace Howard Stern.
