A pair of translators are seeking to enhance their signal around Los Angeles. After having their move to near Pasadena rejected by the FCC, EMF Broadcasting has amended their application for 100.7 K264AF Guasti. The current app seeks to operate with 250 watts from a tower near West Covina, CA. Life On The Way Communications’ 91.1 K216FM has completed its move to Valley Village with 10 watts but now has applied to move south to the tower of 93.5 KDAY near Culver City where it would operate with 5 watts. We start this update with a number of translator sales. Mount Wilson FM continues its expansion in Monterey, CA with the purchase of 94.7 K234AW Monterey from One Ministries for $90,000. The 18 watt translator holds a CP to relocate to 95.1 as K236BK with 250 watts. Once Mount Wilson closes on its recent purchase of 1240 KNRY Salinas, the translator will be used to bring that station to FM. Mount Wilson also purchased 97.9 KYZZ from Buckley last month. Zimmer Radio will bring News/Talk 950 KWOS Jefferson City, MO to FM following its purchase of 100.9 K265CT from Lifesounds, Inc for $35,000. Chicago Public Media has agreed to acquire 91.7 W219CD Elgin, IL from Lifetalk Radio for $52,500. The 10 watt translator will be used to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 91.5 WBEZ Chicago. As the FCC prepares to clear out the frozen 2003 Translator applications and open up the LPFM filing window later this year, many existing translators are hurrying to get their upgrades into the system. The past two weeks have been filled with dozens of upgrades applications. Starting in New York where 106.3 W292DV is trying once again to get relocated into the city. After discarding its hopes to operate in the city last year following interference claims the translator was unable to build out its CP on the Queens/Nassau county border. The translator has now applied for an STA to return to Long Island City, Queens with 4 watts to keep the license alive.
