FCC Update 8/30: Pittsburgh Translator Move Denied

Last week Educational Media Foundation sought a STA to complete the move of 106.3 W292DH Uniontown, PA into Pittsburgh while it sought out issues with the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA issued a Notice of Presumed Hazard for W292DH’s 250 watt at 165 meters Construction Permit. The STA sought to begin operations at that facility with just 46 watts. But as the city-of-license was to remain in Uniontown the STA would not reach that city nor could it be used to build out a CP, it was declined by the FCC. W292DH is due to rebroadcast iHeartMedia Sports “970 ESPN” WBGG Pittsburgh via a Mattoon Waiver. Translator Moves

Station Sales Week Of 2/13

Station Sales Radio Disney continues its sell off as 990 WMYM Miami is sold to Actulidad Radio Group for an as yet undisclosed price. Actulidad operates Spanish News/Talk trimulcast 1020 WURN Kendall/1040 WLVJ Boynton Beach/107.1 WURN-FM Key Largo. Adib Eden, President of Actulidad Radio Group states his intent to use the 990 signal to improve the reach of its news programming in South Florida. Westplex Broadcasting is transferring Rock “100.7 The Viper” KFNS-FM Troy, MO to Viper Broadcasting for the assumption of $318,750 in debt. The new ownership group is made up of two of the previous’ partners. Steve Kaspar will retain his 40% stake, while Chris Blevins increases from 20% to 60% as John & Brandy Scheper exit. The Viper Rocks Near St. Louis

In a flip that somehow got past everybody after Christmas, Westplex Broadcasting’s Hot AC “Westplex 100.7” KFNS-FM Troy, MO flipped to Classic Rock “The Viper” on December 27. Katy Kruze, who has worked at many St. Louis Rock stations will host middays under the new format, while the station picks up the syndicated Nights With Alice Cooper for nights. KFNS-FM serves the northwestern suburbs of St. Louis.
