Urban One has appointed Charese Fruge as CHR Format Captain and Program Director of “Radio Now 92.1” KROI Seabrook/Houston TX and “Radio Now 100.9” WNOW-FM Speedway/Indianapolis IN. Fruge most recently served as VP/Programming for CBS Radio Houston until her exit in late 2016. She also held progamming duties for the company in Las Vegas, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco during her tenure which began in 2009. She has also programmed KALC Denver and KYSR Los Angeles. She will be based in Indianapolis and fills the opening created by Buster Satterfield’s departure to WFLZ Tampa in May. In Houston, DJ Riddler will remain in the APD/MD position, a role he also held under Fruge at the now-defunct “Hot 95.7” KKHH Houston.

Radio-One CHR “Radio Now 100.9” WNOW-FM Speedway/Indianapolis is making a change in mornings with the exit of Kyle Smelser and Rachel Bogle. Both have written on social media that their contracts were not being renewed as the station is moving in a different direction. The duo had been at WNOW-FM since 2010, while also hosting segments for Radio-One’s now-defunct “Indy’s Music Channel” WDNI-CD. A message to our listeners. Two days after flipping CHR WNOU to All-Christmas in preparation for the move of WIBC from AM to FM in January, Emmis Broadcasting has sold the intellectual property for the “Radio Now” CHR format to Radio-One. RadioNow’s website says the format is now available on 100.9. That’s the former “Smooth Jazz 100.9” WYJZ. At 4:30pm, WYJZ signed off with Jeff Lorber’s “Anthem For A New America”. Following a half-hour of looping a sweeper “Radio Now, NOW at 100.9”, the station segued into Akon’s “Bartender”. The Press Release follows below:
