Great Eastern Radio will flip 101.9 WKKN Westminster, VT/Keene, NH and 100.7 WTHK Wilmington, VT from Country to AAA “The Peak” on Monday, March 16. Great Eastern Radio has added a third station to its “Kixx” Country simulcast in Northern New England. 100.7 WTHK Wilmington, VT is now running the programming of 100.5 WXXK Lebanon, NH and 101.9 WKKN Westminster, VT. The station had been simulcasting Classic Rock “101 The Fox” 101.5 WEXP Brandon, VT before the stations mutual ownership was split in the breakup of Nassau Broadcasting. WEXP has since been sold twice, first to Electromagnetic Company and then to Radio Vermont. 100.7 WTHK adds coverage in Southern Vermont in the Green Mountains to the existing 100.5/101.9 coverage along the I-91/Connecticut River corridor along the Vermont and New Hampshire state lines. 101.9 WKKN began its simulcast of 100.5 WXXK in October 2012.
Great Eastern Radio Active Rock “101.9 K-Rock” WKKN Westminster VT/Keene NH has shifted to a simulcast of sister Country “Kixx 100.5” WXXK Lebanon NH. The move comes as Great Eastern owner Jeff Shapiro prepares to close on the acquisition of eleven stations as part of the Nassau Broadcasting bankruptcy auction. One of those, Rock “Q106” WHDQ Claremont NH serves much of the same areas as WKKN.
Great Eastern Radio will launch the first of its two move-ins to the Keene, NH market this week as 101.9 WKKN will launch as “101.9 K-Rock”. The station, formerly WVRR licensed to Newport, NH will be changing its COL to Westminister, VT to give the station coverage in Southwestern New Hampshire, Southeast Vermont including Brattleboro, and the northern most parts of Central Massachusetts. The station will air Greg & The Morning Buzz based at Clear Channel’s WGIR in Manchester. Sister station 93.5 WTSM Springfield, VT will be making the move into the Keene market later this year.
