Cort Johnson Moves Back To KINK As APD/Afternoon Host

Alpha Media AAA 101.9 KINK Portland has announced that Cort Johnson is returning to the station as Assistant Program Director/Afternoon Host. Johnson co-hosted mornings on KINK until April 2017 before moving to sister News/Talk 101.1 KXL as a reporter and anchor. He was then appointed National Digital Content Producer for Alpha Media in March. Prior to coming to Portland in 2011, Johnson served as APD/Morning Host at Alternative “107.5 The End” KENZ Salt Lake City. KINK Portland To Debut New Morning Show With Corey Foley and Mitch Elliott

Alpha Media AAA 101.9 KINK Portland will debut a new morning show hosted by Corey Foley and Mitch Elliott on Tuesday, May 2. Foley has beed out of radio since exiting CBS Country “100.3 The Bull” KILT-FM Houston in 2014. She has also worked at “Wild 98.7” WLLD Tampa, 101.3 KDWB Minneapolis, and and “95.7 The Wolf” KBWF San Francisco in her career. Mitch Elliott joins KINK from afternoons at crosstown Entercom Hot AC “105.1 The Buzz” KRSK where he has worked for the past ten years. He also has worked at “Fox 97.1” WFOX Atlanta and “Mix 92.5” KLSY Seattle. Corey and Mitch will take over the morning slot currently held by Cort Johnson and Sheila Hamilton. Sean Demery Joins KINK Portland As Program Director

Alpha Media AAA 101.9 KINK Portland has appointed Sean Demery as its new Program Director. Demery most recently programmed AAA “88Nine” WYMS Milwaukee and running his own consultancy. He is best known for his long run as APD/MD/Afternoon host at Alternative “99X” WNNX Atlanta from its launch in 1992 to 1999, and then a brief run in mornings at the station in 2006-2007. Demery has also programmed Alternative “Live 105” KITS San Francisco and “X96” KXRK Salt Lake City and hosted mornings at AAA “103.7 The Mountain” KMTT Seattle in his career. Chunky In At 98.7 The Bull; Many Others Exit Alpha Portland

A fairly significant on-air turnover has taken place at Alpha Media’s Portland, OR cluster. Incoming to mornings at Country “98.7 The Bull” KUPL is former “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM Philadelphia morning host Chunky. With much of his previous experience in CHR, Chunky or “Big Boy” as he was formerly known also worked at “Kiss 95.1” WNKS Charlotte, “Channel 95.5” WKQI Detroit, “92.3 Now” WNOW-FM New York, and “Z90” XHTZ San Diego. He will join incumbents Jake Byron and McKinzie Roth on “The Morning Bull Ride” starting May 11. Alpha and L&L To Merge; Acquire Main Line Broadcasting

Larry Wilson is merging his two operating companies into one and acquiring another. Alpha Broadcasting and L&L Broadcasting will merge to become Alpha Media, while purchasing Main Line Broadcasting’s 19 stations in four markets for $57 million. Both Alpha and L&L were founded by Larry Wilson sharing the same management teams with L&L already operating Alpha’s stations. Following the completion of the two transactions the company will operate 68 radio stations in 12 markets. L&L’s deal to acquire Main Line was first reported in February by Tom Taylor Now.
