Another day, another Classic Hip-Hop launch. Steve Hedgwood’s On Top Broadcasting has shifted “Old School 99.3” 1010 WTZA Atlanta/99.3 W257DF Dallas, GA from R&B Oldies to Classic Hip-Hop. While utilizing the Old School logo visually, the on air branding is “Atlanta’s Home for Classic Hip-Hip and R&B, 99.3 and 1010”. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has Mary J Blige, Notorious BIG, Outkast, 2Pac, Goodie Mobb, TLC, Jermaine Dupri, Monica, Jagged Edge, the Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, NAS, 112 and Lil Jon listed as core artists. Hedgwood began operating 1010 WTZA via LMA in January 2013 and added the 99.3 translator earlier this year. W257DF currently covers the western suburbs of Atlanta but holds a CP to relocate to downtown Atlanta.
Steve Hegwood has expanded his radio properties in Atlanta with the lease of 1010 WGUN. Hegwood, operator of Urban “Streetz 94.5” W233BF/WSTR-HD3, has flipped the station from its mix of Liberal Talk and Gospel music to Urban Oldies as “Old School 1010” after a day of simulcasting W233BF. The station is now operating under the WTZA call letters, while the WGUN calls moved to 950 WGOV Valdosta, GA.
