WXTG To End Talk/Classic Country LMA

Talk/Classic Country “1490 The Outlaw” WXTG Hampton/Norfolk VA will flip to a simulcast of AAA “102.1 The Tide” WXTG-FM Virginia Beach next week. The Daily Press reports that Chuck Hall is ending its LMA and scrapping its option to buy the station that operated from his Langley Speedway. WXTG featured Imus In The Morning, Classic Country, and Motor Racing programming to promote the racetrack, which suspended car races in 2016. Owner Davis Media will return the station to a simulcast of their WXTG-FM when the take over.

Red Zebra Sells Norfolk Pair To Local Voice Media

Update 8/1: 102.1 WXTG-FM flipped to a simulcast of 92.3 WTYD at 4pm this afternoon. Despite originally stating that 1490 WXTG will also join the Tide simulcast, the station will retain its “Game” Sports format without its local programming. The station carries Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick, CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome, and NBC Sports Radio programming.
