The move follows the recent relaunch of Cox’ 96.5 WKLR as “Rock 96.5” as it encroached on WRXL’s hold on 90’s rock in the market. WRXL was known as “XL 102” from 1976 until 2002, when it shifted to Alternative and rebranded as “102.1 The X“. No changes musically or to the airstaff accompany the return of the “XL102” name to the station.
