Colorado Public Radio Acquires ESPN 102.3 Denver

Colorado Public Radio has announced they have purchased Sports “ESPN 102.3” KDSP Greenwood Village/Denver, CO from Front Range Sports Network. Paying $5.75 million for the station, Colorado Public Radio will flip it on January 27 to a simulcast of its Adult Alternative “Open Air” 1340 KVOQ Denver. “Open Air” focuses on new music with an emphasis on local artists. It is one of three brands operated by CPR including a statewide Public News/Talk network based at 90.1 KCFR-FM Denver and a Classical network based at 88.1 KVOD-FM Lakewood. Jack Throws In The Towel In Denver

The first JackFM in the United States is no more. Currently stunting as Classic Country “105.5 Bob-FM“, Front Range Sports Network will flip “105.5 Jack-FM” KJAC Timnath/Fort Collins CO to a simulcast of “ESPN 102.3” KDSP Greenwood Village/Denver. The move brings the stations, which simulcasted from 2008 to 2010 as Jack-FM back together as KJAC covers the northern portions of the Denver market, while 102.3 serves Denver and the western suburbs. 105.5 was supposed to flip to the national ESPN feed in January of this year, but Front Range Sports instead merged the national programming with 102.3’s local programming. ESPN Radio To Move To 105.5 Denver In 2012

Update 3/28: Ticket morning host Gary Miller clarifies the report from the Denver Business Journal putting it more in line with what we’ve expected. The local programming will remain on 102.3 KDSP, while the national ESPN feed will move from Lincoln Financial Media’s 1600 KEPN to Front Range Sports Variety Hits “105.5 Jack-FM” KJAC on January 1, 2012.
