WFLA Orlando Moves To 93.1

iHeartMedia Conservative Talk “NewsRadio 102.5 WFLA” 540 WFLF Pine Hills/Orlando FL has moved its FM signal off of 102.5 W273CA Orlando to 93.1 W226BT Orlando. The translator originally was programmed as Smooth Jazz “WLOQ” before assuming WFLF’s simulcast in February 2014. No word yet on what will replace WFLF on 102.5. 93.1 W226BT had been rebroadcasting Star Over Orlando’s co-owned Brazilian 810 WRSO Orlovista. That station will continue to be heard on 97.9 W250CE Kissimmee in the southern part of the Orlando market. iHeart has also started an LMA with option to purchase WRSO and the two translators from Star Over Orlando. WDBO Orlando Next News/Talker To FM

Cox Media Group has announced that News/Talk 580 WDBO Orlando will begin simulcasting on 96.5 WHTQ on Friday, August 19 at 5:00am. WHTQ had just shifted in February from Classic Rock to a broader Rock format as “96 Rock“. The station dropped to a 3 share in the July ratings. Among the shows out as part of the change is the syndicated Bubba The Love Sponge. WDBO had recently added an FM translator on the western side of the Orlando market, but that wasn’t enough to keep Cox from needing a full-powered FM to rebroadcast WDBO.

Translator Report 7/21

The FCC has begun to clear its large backlog of pending translator applications in order to ensure some frequencies remain available for LPFM’s in their respective markets. Over 2000 translators applications were wiped out en masse. Among the markets where the translator applications will still be processed are Charlotte, Sacramento, San Antonio, Orlando, Raleigh/Durham, Nashville, Greensboro/Winston-Salem, Oklahoma City, and Memphis. This has no bearing on any existing translator on-air or with a construction permit in these given markets, but could result in a slow down of new move-ins. See the list of markets here. Elsewhere there was a ton of movement in the past 10 days, especially in the growing relationship between Clear Channel and EMF Broadcasting. A number of EMF owned tran...[Read More]
