On the heels of the American General Media acquisition of Univision’s Albuquerque cluster and spin-offs of four stations, the company has made its first big programming move. Regional Mexican “La Jefa 101.3” KJFA-FM Albuquerque has moved its programming to 840 KARS Belen/102.9 K275AO Albuquerque replacing Active Rock “Area 102.9“. With 101.3 now operated by Vanguard Media, the move gives AGM a second Regional Mexican property to pair with “Radio Lobo 97.7” KLVO Belen. With the move of La Jefa to 102.9, American General Media has also switched 102.9 KSFE Pecos/Santa Fe from a simulcast of KLVO to KARS. KJFA-FM registered a 1.1 share in the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings, while the Active Rock format it replaced held a 1.2 share. The 101.3 signal ...[Read More]
And the final piece of the puzzle has been revealed. BB Broadcasting will pay $750,000 for CHR “Z106.3” KDLW Los Lunas from American General Media. BB is led by Thomas Bozzuto who operates a Maryland based Real Estate Management company. BB will enter into a pair of agreements to operate the station. American General Media will provide back office services for the station and agree to a $66,000 deal over five years to utilize their equipment at the tower site. BB has also agreed to a Time Brokerage Agreement for Vanguard Media, who is purchasing 101.3 KJFA-FM, to provide programming and marketing services. Update 6/26: The first round of filings for the deal have been made with the FCC giving more details about its structure. American General Media will pay $5 million for Univi...[Read More]
American General Media Alternative “Area 102.9” 840 KARS Belen/102.9 K275AO Albuquerque has segued to Active Rock while retaining the current branding. Now positioning as “Shut Up & Rock”, the move shifts KARS/K275AO’s focus from attacking iHeartMedia’s Alternative “104.1 The Edge” KTEG to Rock “94 Rock” KZRR. While American General Media does not subscribe to Nielsen Audio’s ratings, KZRR was second in the Albuquerque market with a 4.9 share in the Spring 2015 Phase 1 trends and KTEG held a 2.2 share.
Station Sales American General Media and Hutton Broadcasting are swapping signals in the Santa Fe, NM market. Hutton will send Spanish Adult Hits “Juan 102.9” KLBU Pecos to AGM for “Radio Lobo” 94.7 KKIM-FM Santa Fe, which currently simulcasts 97.7 KLVO Belen/Albuquerque. The deal gives Hutton a much more powerful signal in Santa Fe as 94.7 KKIM-FM is a 100kW Class C1, however the deal may also help American General Media in the adjacent Albuquerque market as the 3.7kW Class C3 signal of KLBU is on the same channel as AGM’s Albuquerque translator 102.9 K275AO. That signal currently rebroadcasts 840 KARS Belen, NM as Alternative “Area 102.9“. Owning KLBU should allow AGM flexibility in upgrading K275AO’s signal. Davis Broadcasting of Atlanta i...[Read More]
