Chaz & AJ End Connecticut Syndication

Connoisseur Media has ceased syndicating Chaz & AJ in mornings from Rock 99.1 WPLR New Haven CT to two of its other stations. Classic Rock “95.9 The Fox” WFOX Southport/Norwalk and Classic Rock “102.9 The Whale” WDRC-FM Hartford will launch new morning shows in 2017. WDRC-FM Flips To Classic Rock The Whale

Connoisseur Media flipped Classic Hits 102.9 WDRC-FM to Classic Rock “102.9 The Whale” around 10:30 this morning. The launch came after a brief loop of the Brass Bonanza theme song of the NHL’s defunct Hartford Whalers. The flip comes following the demise of Classic Rock 106.9 WCCC-FM last summer and Connoisseur’s shift of WDRC-FM from pop-leaning Classic Hits to Rock leaning, which alienated many former listeners while not doing anything to bring former WCCC-FM or other new listeners aboard. “The Whale” gives the station a fresh start without the now destroyed WDRC-FM branding. Chaz & AJ based at sister Rock 99.1 WPLR New Haven remain in mornings. Allan Lamberti moves from afternoons to middays, former WCCC PD Michael Picozzi joins for afternoons, ...[Read More]

Connoisseur Revamps WDRC-FM

The station has also tweaked its playlist to a more Rock based direction branded as “Classic Hits Of The 70s, 80s, and More”. A similar repositioning took place at Connoisseur’s “B103” WBZO Long Island in April. WDRC-FM and sister “Talk Of Connecticut” 1360 WDRC Hartford/610 WSNG Torrington/1240 WWCO Waterbury/1470 WMMW Meriden will come under the oversight of t...[Read More]

FCC Applications 4/4

Following their acquisition of 102.9 WDRC-FM Hartford, Connoisseur Media has filed to adjust the patterns of it and adjacent channel sister 103.1 WBZO Bay Shore, NY. Both stations will retain their current tower heights and power; 19.5kW at 247 meters for WDRC-FM and 1.55kW at 141 meters for WBZO. WDRC-FM will adjust from non-directional to a directional array, while WBZO will shift to non-directional. The move will allow WBZO to put a city-grade signal over the north shore of Long Island with less interference from WDRC-FM. After its long saga to move into Manhattan came to an end, 106.3 W292DV New York moved to Long Island City, Queens with 4 watts at 200 meters. After building out that facility and testing, the translator now seeks to upgrade to 40 watts from the same height and facilit...[Read More]
